Rotherham’s Special Needs Centre Interior Fit-Out
Posted on 21 August 2019
Pacy & Wheatley Interiors were delighted to be chosen to work on a full interior fit-out of a vacant building for Rotherham Council. We specialise in interior fit-outs and refurbishments, including bespoke joinery, dry lining and partitions, suspended ceilings, and commercial decorating. With over 50 years' experience, we were the perfect company for the job.
St. Barnabus building is now a purpose-built centre, specialising in providing education to children with special needs. Until recently, it was a vacant and partly derelict building owned by Rotherham City Council. Originally, local special needs children were being sent out to specialist centres in Leeds and Newcastle and this was becoming incredibly costly for the council. A committee was then set up to focus on keeping these children in the local area, so it was decided upon to make a centre dedicated to their needs.
Once the St. Barnabus Centre was chosen, plans for its refurbishment were underway. We installed new one-to-one teaching rooms, which means that each child has the time, attention and space to develop without the pressure of other children. We also installed new lighting, a new entrance and exit, a kitchen and a relaxation room. The building also housed a stage, and we completed a partial refurbishment to ensure that it could be used safely.
We completed the project in only 8 weeks: both on-time and on-budget. This is a great achievement considering the tight working area and challenging logistics. We were even praised by the client on the tidiness and safety of our site! The once empty building is now a fresh, welcoming and warm environment for children of all different needs to learn in and enjoy. We're so glad that this refurbishment has been so well received by Rotherham City Council and can't wait to see how it improves the lives of the local children. For more information on our services, click here.
