School Education Refurbishment, Pontefract

Project Description

Pacy & Wheatley have been lucky enough to be able to complete further upgrade works for Ash Grove Primary School. These works focused on transforming the external features of the infant building with the installation of new Rockpanel cladding, double-glazing window units, and aluminium fascia to replace the weather timber boards that were previously there.

The work is not just to improve the aesthetic qualities of the building but also to improve the thermal and acoustic qualities to benefit the children.

Strip out and refurbishment of Ash Grove Primary School

The Project

The 20-week refurbishment programme at Ash Grove School in South Elmsall, is now completed! The last finishes and late instructions are all done including further internal doors and new external doors installed also. Our site team and suppliers have gone the extra mile to ensure all the doors will be fully installed before we close for the Christmas break. A big well done to Duncan Henderson and his site team for the extra effort and hours worked on site to ensure all works are to be fully finished by the end of this week. A tall order but ultimately very rewarding.

Education refurbishment, Pontefract

The Project

The kitchen at Girnhill Infant School has successfully been refurbished during the school holidays in preparation for the children to start their new year. The 7-week project included stripping, decorating, and installing new flooring and ceilings. As well as further electrical and mechanical modifications and upgrades have been completed throughout the kitchen to support the requirements of the new extract system and new equipment. Health and safety were managed very successfully on this project with zero accidents. Well done to Andy Harrison and his team for their efficiency in handling this job with the tight programme schedule.

Interior refurbishment, South Yorkshire

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley were appointed on a negotiated basis to carry out the interior refurbishment of an empty and partly derelict building for Rotherham County Council, South Yorkshire. This building has been designated for children with learning difficulties, as Rotherham Council were sending these children out of town to specialist centres in both Leeds and Newcastle which was obviously costing a large sum of money. A committee was set up within the council to try and keep these children local and to look at utilising vacant buildings within the Rotherham borough. The St. Barnabas building was chosen as the property to be refurbished. We supplied and installed new one to one small rooms to enable the children to be taught on a personal basis in the hope of helping them to mature naturally and without pressure. We installed a new lighting system, carried out full decoration, installed new entrance/exit doors, a new kitchen and relaxation room. There was also a stage within the existing building which was partially refurbished to enable this to be used safely. The project was completed in 8 weeks which in itself is a great achievement due to the tight working area and challenging logistics. Throughout the duration of the project there were no accidents, and Pacy & Wheatley were praised on the way the site was run especially in terms of tidiness that was maintained to a high level throughout. The project finished on time and on budget The solution achieved resulted in a building being suitably refurbished for the use of vulnerable people. The facility is bright, fresh, practical and fit for purpose, and has been very well received by Rotherham Council.

Interior refurbishment, Skipton

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley Interiors have completed the interior refurbishment project at Skipton Academy. The works undertaken include a full strip out and refurbishment of numerous classrooms throughout this school block, as well as toilets, a staffroom, and the shared kitchen. All new mechanical and electrical services have been installed. Decorations, along with new flooring, were installed throughout to create a designated SEN area for pupils in and around North Yorkshire. The SEN area includes two quiet rooms, three classrooms, an office, and a kitchen which is to teach the children all about life skills for when they are older.
