Healthcare Refurbishment, Hull
- Client: Barchester Care
- Sector: Care Homes
- Type: Refurbishment
- Procurement Method: Framework
- Location: Hull
- Project Value: £320,000
Project Description
This particular care home is a combined care home and Mental health Hospital, so as such, we have over and above logistical issues which we have identified and implemented. The work being undertaken on this project involves stripping out existing fixtures and fittings, all new flooring, decoration, and new electrical lighting.
These refurbishment works are being carried out in staff areas, toilets, bedrooms, and corridors. New modern baths with electrical hoists are being installed in the ground floor bathrooms in order to enhance and improve the existing facilities.
The Challenge
The health and safety challenge, along with the complexity of the home in terms of isolation and access to high-security areas, has meant we have had to plan the work in phases. This has been carried out with input from the management of the centre, and we have had to plan sensitive work to be carried out in certain areas. Our health and safety measures have had to be enhanced with built-in specific health and safety considerations. The works are ongoing, and so far, due to the cooperation of the home, all works are progressing as planned, and the residents have been considered and have experienced as little as possible upheaval.
Well done so far on the job, and well done to Rio Shaw and his site team.
