- Type: Refurbishment
- Procurement Method: Negotiated
- Location: Knottingley
- Project Value: £217,000
Project Description
This particular care home is a bit of a strange affair. It is empty of any residents but partially fitted out. Our aim in this phase is to get the home refurbished to a standard where residents can return and use the home's facilities and be safe and comfortable once our work is completed.
Our works mainly consist of the removal and reinstatement of floor finishes, decoration, removal and replacement of Ceiling tiles to designated areas, Stripping off of existing Wallpaper, installation of new Wallpaper and full decoration throughout the home internally. Damaged electrical sockets will be replaced, all wiring will be checked, and alterations will be made if required. The duration of this project is 11 weeks.
The Challenge
The main challenge of this project is to carry out the refurbishment efficiently and as quickly as possible so that residents can return to their homes and utilise the enhanced facilities. This particular project was discussed between the client and me on day 1, a site meeting was held on day 3, costs were submitted a week later, and on-site a week after cost submission and approval from Wakefield council. Our project management and estimation team put a great effort into turning around all of the cost and H&S requirements quickly.
Well done so far on a job well done to John Longstaff and his site team, who are making excellent progress.
