Frequently Asked Bespoke Joinery Questions

What is bespoke joinery?

Bespoke joinery involves creating custom-made woodwork designed specifically for your home or commercial space. Unlike off-the-shelf products, every item is measured, crafted, and finished to your exact specifications.

What types of bespoke joinery can you create?

We design and build a wide range of custom joinery, including fitted wardrobes, alcove units, staircases, doors, windows, kitchens, shelving, office furniture, and one-off made-to-measure pieces.

Do you offer on-site measuring and design consultations?

Yes. We provide full site surveys and design consultations to ensure your joinery project fits your space perfectly and reflects your requirements.

Can you match existing features or architectural styles?

Absolutely. Whether you need period-style mouldings, traditional timber finishes, or modern minimalistic designs, we can match or complement your existing interior or exterior features.

What materials do you use?

We work with high-quality hardwoods, softwoods, veneers, MDF, and specialist materials depending on the project. We can also recommend the best timber for durability, aesthetics, and budget.

How long does bespoke joinery take?

Lead times vary depending on the complexity of the design and current workshop schedule. Most projects take between 2-8 weeks from measurement to installation.

Do you provide installation?

Yes. All bespoke joinery pieces are professionally installed by our skilled team to ensure a flawless fit and long-lasting finish.

Can you create joinery for commercial properties?

Yes. We work with residential clients, architects, builders, and businesses to create bespoke joinery for offices, retail spaces, hospitality venues, and more.

Is bespoke joinery more expensive than ready-made options?

Bespoke joinery can be more of an investment, but it delivers superior craftsmanship, a perfect fit, longer lifespan, and a customised finish you won’t get from mass-produced products.

Do you offer painted or pre-finished joinery?

Yes. We can supply items fully primed, spray-finished, stained, or lacquered, depending on the look you want.

    Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust

Pacy & Wheatley Interiors were contacted in regard to getting involved in an urgent project to completely strip out and refurbish the Southwell Ward at Nottingham City Hospital. The brief to this project was that once commenced, this project needed to be completed in 12 weeks, a very tall undertaking based on the amount of work involved. However, after several meetings, a programme was put together which involved a large portion of the works being carried out on both days and nights, 6 days a week, in order to give all involved the best chance of completing the works to a very challenging timescale. The works undertaken involved the full strip out of the existing ward, including substantial M&E works, new flooring to all the wards, new doors, new counters and Kitchen units were also installed on the Joinery element of the works. New lay in grid Ceilings were installed along with specified LED Lighting upgrades and the whole ward was fully Decorated throughout.

This, in essence, was a monumental challenge for all involved, including the Architect, Consultants, the in-house NHS team, and, of course, the P&W site and Management team. The delivery of this project needed careful planning and completion of areas of the ward in a phased manner to ensure that all of the trades involved could access specific areas to complete their works. This was achieved for the most part due to thorough planning and due consideration given to all of the trades participating on the project.

Pacy & Wheatley have now delivered a modern, state-of-the-art facility for both Hospital patients and staff, completed in record time. Thanks must go to all involved for their dedication and application in ensuring we got over the line and completed this project. Many Thanks to both Adam Cox ( Site Manager ) along with Steve Shaw ( Project Manager ) and Charlotte Wheatley ( Project QS ) for their outstanding effort in delivering this project which was delivered with zero accidents which in itself is a testament to the planning and execution of the works.
