Hotel Fit-Out Contractors
Pacy & Wheatley Interiors is a hotel fit-out contractor in the Hospitality sector with over 10 years of experience working with various operators. Over the years, we have carried out work for Blue Chip Hotel operators, such as Marriott, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and a number of private operators. We have been involved in numerous projects for the operators detailed above and in many different areas of the UK, from the far North of Scotland to the South West of England.
The refurbishment works we are involved with vary from pure decoration works or new flooring works to very high-value bedroom refurbishments and public area upgrades. The biggest challenge with working in hotels is that from an operational perspective, there are no times when it is convenient to carry out noisy work, especially in big cities. Aircrew, for example, comes in and out of the hotels at different times of the day, so the need for quiet is very important. Noisy works, for example, need to be coordinated in a manner that gives the guests the least amount of disturbance. As such, we have to engage with the hotel management to ensure that these types of works are carried out and completed as swiftly as possible.
Multi-Floor Fit Outs
The biggest plus point when working for different hotel chains is that the works and finishes vary immensely, so no project is ever the same. For instance, one project may involve multi-floor fit-outs, such as a bedroom roll where corridors are closed off until all of the bedrooms on any given floor are completed.
These bedroom projects are particularly logistically challenging, especially in terms of removing old fittings/beds, etc. and bringing in new replacement items. Some of these hotels could have 15 floors, and external elevation platforms and debris chutes to remove all of the old fittings and beds would need to be installed.
Other projects may include the need for a restaurant or breakfast area to be closed off whilst refurbishment works are carried out; this being the case, temporary eating facilities would need to be set up in the conference room and retaken out of service temporarily. Temporary entrance and exit doors must also be introduced while the work progresses. Refurbishment works taking place in existing hotels have, as already mentioned, their unique challenges which are not easily overcome and regular coordination meetings are needed to plan daily the works required to take place so that they can be carried to the agreed areas and swiftly to minimise disruption of the day to day running of the hotels.
P&W Interiors personnel are very much involved in design and coordination meetings with the client, designers, and health and safety personnel as things change. We need to ensure that all changes are picked up and agreed upon so the end product is satisfactory to all parties involved. When completed, these projects are something we at P&W Interiors are immensely proud of.
