New Interior Fit-Out in Nottingham Aldi

Posted on 30 November 2020

Aldi's slogan is 'find something amazing everyday', and that's what we hope we're helping the people of Nottingham do with our latest project - an interior fit-out for Aldi.

In a year where supermarkets have become even more important to local communities, we were thrilled to be invited to tender for this project. Pacy & Wheatley have an existing relationship with the Forge Project Management Practice, having previously tendered for projects in Yorkshire and the East Midlands area, and we were delighted to be selected for the fit-out of the new Edwalton Aldi store.

Bringing our interior fit-out expertise to the table, we worked closely with the appointed architect and site management team to ensure the project was completed to the high standards expected by the client. Many elements of the fit-out came directly from Germany, including the suspended ceiling system, wall panelling and checkouts. Aldi stores have familiar interiors in every location, and we were able to help bring this to the Edwalton store.

Working on a high-profile project like this comes with many challenges at the best of times, but the COVID-19 outbreak has brought a whole new level of pressures to the work we do. Throughout the project, we maintained incredible standards of health and safety, with zero accidents on site. Additional safety measures helped keep our teams safe during the project. This meant we could hand over the project on time, helping the store meet its opening deadline.

The project was completed on time and to budget, meaning the Aldi store could open as planned. We received high praise from the client for our efforts throughout the fit-out period. We couldn't have asked for a more positive start to what we hope will be long-term relationships with the Forge Project Management and Aldi UK.

The Aldi Edwalton store opened on the 8th of October, and we're proud that Pacy & Wheatley could be part of bringing Aldi to the local community - just in time for Christmas!

    Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust

Pacy & Wheatley Interiors were contacted in regard to getting involved in an urgent project to completely strip out and refurbish the Southwell Ward at Nottingham City Hospital. The brief to this project was that once commenced, this project needed to be completed in 12 weeks, a very tall undertaking based on the amount of work involved. However, after several meetings, a programme was put together which involved a large portion of the works being carried out on both days and nights, 6 days a week, in order to give all involved the best chance of completing the works to a very challenging timescale. The works undertaken involved the full strip out of the existing ward, including substantial M&E works, new flooring to all the wards, new doors, new counters and Kitchen units were also installed on the Joinery element of the works. New lay in grid Ceilings were installed along with specified LED Lighting upgrades and the whole ward was fully Decorated throughout.

This, in essence, was a monumental challenge for all involved, including the Architect, Consultants, the in-house NHS team, and, of course, the P&W site and Management team. The delivery of this project needed careful planning and completion of areas of the ward in a phased manner to ensure that all of the trades involved could access specific areas to complete their works. This was achieved for the most part due to thorough planning and due consideration given to all of the trades participating on the project.

Pacy & Wheatley have now delivered a modern, state-of-the-art facility for both Hospital patients and staff, completed in record time. Thanks must go to all involved for their dedication and application in ensuring we got over the line and completed this project. Many Thanks to both Adam Cox ( Site Manager ) along with Steve Shaw ( Project Manager ) and Charlotte Wheatley ( Project QS ) for their outstanding effort in delivering this project which was delivered with zero accidents which in itself is a testament to the planning and execution of the works.
