Bespoke Joinery for the English National Ballet

Pacy & Wheatley are delighted to share our bespoke joinery work on the new home for the English National Ballet and the English National Ballet School. We were approached by Pulse Consult, project managers and cost consultants, after establishing a great working relationship on the Shakespeare 400th Anniversary Exhibition at the Swan Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon and the New Byron Building at Nottingham Trent University.

Four times larger than their previous building, the new English National Ballet headquarters is a space designed to hone and nourish talent for generations to come. The space boasts a production studio with a fly tower, seven state of the art rehearsal studios, costume workshop (including dye room and shoe room), two learning and engagement spaces and even a hydrotherapy room and gym! Officially opened in September by the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the building wants to welcome-in the local community with a café, exhibition space and views into the rehearsal studios.

Our teams have been working with the architect since August 2018 to develop a working solution to the concept design. We were appointed to manufacture and install a bespoke joinery package in the new space including table units for performers, fixed seating and storage units, which began in March 2019.

Through numerous workshop meetings with the architect and client, factory visits and production of sample units for approval, we delivered quality products on-time and on-budget. Although several items of joinery were instructed close to the completion period, the manufacturing process was completed in 8 weeks and the installation was finished in 6 weeks.
