Educational Interior Fit-Out, West Yorkshire
Posted on 20 January 2020
Pacy & Wheatley Interiors are delighted to present a school kitchen and dining room interior fit-out at Horbury Academy, from back in 2017. We were approached by Addison Colbeck Ltd, after meeting at a local Chamber of Commerce construction event, to completely reorganise and decorate the serving and eating area within the academy.
We were asked to demolish the existing seating area and install a new staircase, to match the second staircase at the other end of the atrium. We installed a new water supply alongside installing the new pay stations, to ensure the kitchen and restaurant area had access to hand-washing and cleaning facilities. When the installations were complete, the Pacy & Wheatley team decorated the entire area, to provide a fresh and modern finish.
The entire works were completed in a two-week period, whilst the school was closed for the summer holidays. Whilst our interiors team didn't have to worry about the safety of staff and pupils at the school, good project management was required to make the works as seamless and productive as possible. The land of Horbury Academy backed onto a demolished petrol station, left in disrepair, and the bottom of a railway line embankment, which produced difficulties with Health and Safety regulations.
Access in and out of the site was located just off a busy dual carriageway, so our team had to plan carefully and organise deliveries at specific times in the day to prevent any disruption to residents and businesses. By working closely with the school caretaker and project manager from Addison and Colbeck Ltd, we were very happy to complete the project successfully, on time and on budget.
