Interior Fit-Out in London Heathrow

Posted on 22 November 2021

Pacy and Wheatley were chosen to complete a project, which included the interior fit-out of the toilet facilities at Heathrow airport. The facilities were in very poor condition, and no maintenance had been carried out for quite some time. The facilities included the men's bathrooms and transport toilets. This included new toilets, cubicles and hand dryers. We also added cladding to the walls for ease of cleanliness and maintenance.

The client wanted to have a facility that prioritised user-friendliness as well being practical. We ensured that the colours chosen gave the area a much lighter feel. The fit out was carried out in 5 weeks and we ensured that health and safety was a priority at all times. No accidents occurred while we worked on the project and given the complexity, we would like to give full credit to the team, who did a fantastic job on this commercial project.

We ensured that the London facility was fit for purpose, and a lot of time went into choosing the right products. We had to ensure that the facility could withstand heavy use, and both the client and ourselves felt as though this had been achieved. The client was delighted with the end result, and they have said that they are going to upgrade the women's toilets later on in the year. They have advised us that they will negotiate with us first because we were able to handle a first-class project on schedule, and on budget.

    Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust

Pacy & Wheatley Interiors were contacted in regard to getting involved in an urgent project to completely strip out and refurbish the Southwell Ward at Nottingham City Hospital. The brief to this project was that once commenced, this project needed to be completed in 12 weeks, a very tall undertaking based on the amount of work involved. However, after several meetings, a programme was put together which involved a large portion of the works being carried out on both days and nights, 6 days a week, in order to give all involved the best chance of completing the works to a very challenging timescale. The works undertaken involved the full strip out of the existing ward, including substantial M&E works, new flooring to all the wards, new doors, new counters and Kitchen units were also installed on the Joinery element of the works. New lay in grid Ceilings were installed along with specified LED Lighting upgrades and the whole ward was fully Decorated throughout.

This, in essence, was a monumental challenge for all involved, including the Architect, Consultants, the in-house NHS team, and, of course, the P&W site and Management team. The delivery of this project needed careful planning and completion of areas of the ward in a phased manner to ensure that all of the trades involved could access specific areas to complete their works. This was achieved for the most part due to thorough planning and due consideration given to all of the trades participating on the project.

Pacy & Wheatley have now delivered a modern, state-of-the-art facility for both Hospital patients and staff, completed in record time. Thanks must go to all involved for their dedication and application in ensuring we got over the line and completed this project. Many Thanks to both Adam Cox ( Site Manager ) along with Steve Shaw ( Project Manager ) and Charlotte Wheatley ( Project QS ) for their outstanding effort in delivering this project which was delivered with zero accidents which in itself is a testament to the planning and execution of the works.
