The Project
Pacy & Wheatley Interiors became involved with a Bespoke Joinery project for the English National Ballet in London, thanks to a prior relationship established with Pulse Consult. We previously worked together at the Shakespeare 400th Anniversary Exhibition at the Swan Theatre in Stratford Upon Avon and the New Byron Building at Nottingham Trent University. The English National Ballet have recently relocated from central London to the City Island Docklands into a purpose-built facility. We were appointed to manufacture and install the Bespoke Joinery package into the new facility, which included dressing table units for the performers, fixed seating and storage units. Our team have been working with the architect as far back as August 2018 to develop a working solution to the design concept. Manufacturing commenced in March 2019, installation began in June 2019 and the project was completed at the end of July 2019. The new facility opened on schedule in September 2019.
"The Solution
The Pacy & Wheatley team proposed working solutions to achieve the design concept and delivered and installed a quality product on time and on budget. This was achieved through numerous workshop meetings with the architect and client, including factory visits and the production of sample units delivered and installed on site to complete the approval process. Several additional items of joinery were instructed close to the completion date and were manufactured and installed within the original contract period.
The manufacturing process was completed in 8 weeks and the project installation was started and completed in 6 weeks, all on schedule to meet the opening date of the new facility.
