Pacy & Wheatley was appointed as the Principal Contractor by Rittal Industries to install additional steel supports to an existing steel frame. This crucial structural reinforcement prepared the building for a brand-new, updated roof. The Pacy & Wheatley team is incredibly proud to establish this new partnership and deliver high-quality structural solutions for a new client.

The Challenge

The primary obstacle of this project was safety. Working inside a live, highly active warehouse environment meant that maintaining normal operations was critical. To keep the warehouse running safely and at full capacity, the team had to manage heavy structural work without disrupting daily logistics and foot traffic.

The Solution & Key Achievements

Consistent, transparent communication was the foundation of this project's success. Daily briefings between the Pacy & Wheatley site team and the warehouse manager ensured that work zones were dynamically coordinated. By planning construction activities around peak warehouse hours, the team isolated active work areas effectively, keeping warehouse operatives safe, maintaining maximum operational efficiency, and completing the structural upgrades ahead of schedule.

    Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust

    Pacy & Wheatley Interiors were contacted in regard to getting involved in an urgent project to completely strip out and refurbish the Southwell Ward at Nottingham City Hospital. The brief to this project was that once commenced, this project needed to be completed in 12 weeks, a very tall undertaking based on the amount of work involved. However, after several meetings, a programme was put together which involved a large portion of the works being carried out on both days and nights, 6 days a week, in order to give all involved the best chance of completing the works to a very challenging timescale. The works undertaken involved the full strip out of the existing ward, including substantial M&E works, new flooring to all the wards, new doors, new counters and Kitchen units were also installed on the Joinery element of the works. New lay in grid Ceilings were installed along with specified LED Lighting upgrades and the whole ward was fully Decorated throughout.

    This, in essence, was a monumental challenge for all involved, including the Architect, Consultants, the in-house NHS team, and, of course, the P&W site and Management team. The delivery of this project needed careful planning and completion of areas of the ward in a phased manner to ensure that all of the trades involved could access specific areas to complete their works. This was achieved for the most part due to thorough planning and due consideration given to all of the trades participating on the project.

    Pacy & Wheatley have now delivered a modern, state-of-the-art facility for both Hospital patients and staff, completed in record time. Thanks must go to all involved for their dedication and application in ensuring we got over the line and completed this project. Many Thanks to both Adam Cox ( Site Manager ) along with Steve Shaw ( Project Manager ) and Charlotte Wheatley ( Project QS ) for their outstanding effort in delivering this project which was delivered with zero accidents which in itself is a testament to the planning and execution of the works.
