Healthcare Interior Refurbishment, Doncaster.

The Project

Pacy & Wheatley have worked in conjunction with Clerkenwell Health to remodel an old existing building in Doncaster into a state-of-the-art healthcare research facility. The building we worked on was previously used for administration purposes and was in a neglected state, requiring extensive interior maintenance, which we undertook. These works included fixing leaks, repairs to external soffits, and repair works to defective plumbing. The internal works were the main focus of this project. New flooring, specialist lighting, and decorative works were carried out in different rooms, with special colour finishes chosen for health rehabilitation reasons. The refurbishment works were carried out in phases to ensure phased handovers in order for the specialist care team to move into areas of the centre at agreed times.

The Challenge

One of the main challenges involved in delivering this project was in terms of logistics. This facility was tucked into a tight corner of the Campus, which made deliveries difficult with stipulated vehicles only able to gain access. This was challenging but not insurmountable, and we managed to get all of the specialist kit required delivered and installed in place within the building. We were also working in an old building which had had little or no maintenance work carried out over many years, resulting in our on-site team being very careful when installing fixtures and fittings, which resulted in on-the-spot maintenance works being undertaken to ensure all of the newly installed items were fitted correctly and safely in order to eradicate any future issues.

In summary, our team have carried out a very difficult project in the given time schedule and within the stipulated budget. A big thank you to Duncan Henderson and his site team, and also to Steve Shaw ( Project Manager ) and Charlotte Wheatley ( QS ), for assisting with a difficult project, which the client is extremely pleased with.

Testimonial

"Working with Pacy & Wheatly Interiors was a pleasure from start to finish. Everything was delivered on time and within budget despite a number of change requests from our side during the fit-out. The onsite team were friendly with existing clients, and the finish has been very well received by everyone who's visited the site.

Huge thanks to the team as this hasn't been our experience with other contractors!"

    Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust

Pacy & Wheatley Interiors were contacted in regard to getting involved in an urgent project to completely strip out and refurbish the Southwell Ward at Nottingham City Hospital. The brief to this project was that once commenced, this project needed to be completed in 12 weeks, a very tall undertaking based on the amount of work involved. However, after several meetings, a programme was put together which involved a large portion of the works being carried out on both days and nights, 6 days a week, in order to give all involved the best chance of completing the works to a very challenging timescale. The works undertaken involved the full strip out of the existing ward, including substantial M&E works, new flooring to all the wards, new doors, new counters and Kitchen units were also installed on the Joinery element of the works. New lay in grid Ceilings were installed along with specified LED Lighting upgrades and the whole ward was fully Decorated throughout.

This, in essence, was a monumental challenge for all involved, including the Architect, Consultants, the in-house NHS team, and, of course, the P&W site and Management team. The delivery of this project needed careful planning and completion of areas of the ward in a phased manner to ensure that all of the trades involved could access specific areas to complete their works. This was achieved for the most part due to thorough planning and due consideration given to all of the trades participating on the project.

Pacy & Wheatley have now delivered a modern, state-of-the-art facility for both Hospital patients and staff, completed in record time. Thanks must go to all involved for their dedication and application in ensuring we got over the line and completed this project. Many Thanks to both Adam Cox ( Site Manager ) along with Steve Shaw ( Project Manager ) and Charlotte Wheatley ( Project QS ) for their outstanding effort in delivering this project which was delivered with zero accidents which in itself is a testament to the planning and execution of the works.
