The Project

Pacy and Wheatley Interiors were excited to undertake this interior fit out project in Gloucester.

The Project was initially tendered in early 2018 and following the issue of several revised tenders we were asked to attend two interviews on site with the UBB project team in May 2018. The outcome of the interview process was that we were successful, and we were appointed for what was initially a 6 month contract for the value of £800k in June 2018, for the Interior Fit Out Package of the Admin Block and Visitors Centre to 4 floors of the Power / Recycling Station. Pacy and Wheatley commenced the project in August 2018 following a delay to our start date due to Construction issues on site. The Pacy & Wheatley Interior Fit out programme was subject to various delays due to on-going issues with the Shell Construction which allowed water ingress in to the Fit-out Area.

The Solution

Pacy and Wheatley worked closely with UBB completing temporary water proofing and enabling works in order to continue the Fit out works. The Fit out works expanded with the inclusion of Jumbo stud walls, decoration and finishes to 3 staircases up to 4 storeys high and various additional work packages.

The Fit-out Works package value expanded from the initial £800k to £1.3m and the programme duration was extended from 6 months to 12 months.

Pacy and Wheatley completed the Interior Fit Out in August 2019 in line with the UBB Revised completion date. The State-of-the-Art Power / Recycling Station is now operational and is processing substantial household waste in Gloucester while also producing energy that is sent back into the National Grid.

    Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust

Pacy & Wheatley Interiors were contacted in regard to getting involved in an urgent project to completely strip out and refurbish the Southwell Ward at Nottingham City Hospital. The brief to this project was that once commenced, this project needed to be completed in 12 weeks, a very tall undertaking based on the amount of work involved. However, after several meetings, a programme was put together which involved a large portion of the works being carried out on both days and nights, 6 days a week, in order to give all involved the best chance of completing the works to a very challenging timescale. The works undertaken involved the full strip out of the existing ward, including substantial M&E works, new flooring to all the wards, new doors, new counters and Kitchen units were also installed on the Joinery element of the works. New lay in grid Ceilings were installed along with specified LED Lighting upgrades and the whole ward was fully Decorated throughout.

This, in essence, was a monumental challenge for all involved, including the Architect, Consultants, the in-house NHS team, and, of course, the P&W site and Management team. The delivery of this project needed careful planning and completion of areas of the ward in a phased manner to ensure that all of the trades involved could access specific areas to complete their works. This was achieved for the most part due to thorough planning and due consideration given to all of the trades participating on the project.

Pacy & Wheatley have now delivered a modern, state-of-the-art facility for both Hospital patients and staff, completed in record time. Thanks must go to all involved for their dedication and application in ensuring we got over the line and completed this project. Many Thanks to both Adam Cox ( Site Manager ) along with Steve Shaw ( Project Manager ) and Charlotte Wheatley ( Project QS ) for their outstanding effort in delivering this project which was delivered with zero accidents which in itself is a testament to the planning and execution of the works.
