The Project
Pacy & Wheatley were appointed to complete a project that involved the interior refurbishment of both the transport toilet facilities and the gents toilet facilities in London’s Heathrow airport. These facilities were in a very poor state of repair as they had been left with little or no maintenance being carried out. The existing facilities were completely stripped out in both areas and a new set of toilets; cubicles and hand driers were installed. We also installed hygienic cladding to the walls for ease of cleaning and maintenance. The client wished for a more user-friendly facility and the colours chosen for both the cubicles and walls gives both areas a lighter and brighter feel. Due to the various nationalities working in the facility squat toilets were also installed. The full project was carried out in 5 weeks and health and safety on site was of course of paramount importance. There were zero accidents on this project, which is an excellent achievement, bearing in mind the complexity of the project and credit must be given to the installation team.
The Solution
There was a basic scheme designed for the project with the aim of providing a brighter and user-friendlier facility, which in turn needed to be fit for purpose. A lot of time and effort went into choosing the correct range of products to be able to achieve a facility that could withstand very heavy use. Ourselves and the client feel as though this has been achieved. The Client has confirmed they are highly delighted with the finished product and have advised us that the ladies facilities are due to be upgraded later this year, which they will negotiate with us. A first class project handed over on schedule and on budget.
