The Project
Pacy & Wheatley undertook our third major interior refurbishment for Wickes in Wimbledon, South West London. This store is only a few years old but required both external and internal refurbishment. Works externally included adaptations to the car park, drainage works and the full exterior decoration of the store cladding. Internally significant changes were made to the in-store racking, which was turned around 180 degrees to run from back to front instead of from side to side. Extensive floor grinding was carried out on the shop floor, and various areas were re-painted in different colours to signify other departments within the store. This particular store, when first built, had a mezzanine floor installed where the kitchen, bathrooms, appliances and tap displays were located. As part of this refurbishment, the existing kitchen, bathrooms and appliances were removed and scrapped, and new range displays were installed. The perimeter walls were fully decorated with new high-level LED lighting installed. The new kitchen and bathroom displays were also decorated to refresh them for the new ranges to be installed. As part of this refurbishment, extensive works were carried out to the back of house staff facilities, with a new prayer room and well-being room being formed. Full decoration to the back of the house was also carried out, and new flooring, both vinyl and carpet, were installed in designated rooms and corridors within these areas. This project was completed in 8 weeks, with 24/7 work carried out throughout the refurbishment with zero accidents. A well-managed, challenging, logistical project achieved on time and on budget to the full satisfaction of a valued client.
The Solution
A much better customer shopping experience with a lighter, fresher feel to the sales area. In-store departments are now much more clearly defined. The staff areas are also much brighter and fresher, with added well-being areas being formed.
